If you decide to apply for a car loan, you will deal directly with a financial institution, and not with RateCity.

How to Save at the Car Wash

With water restrictions a fact of life for most Australians, regular visits to the car wash are becoming commonplace amongst drivers. And while this has done wonders for the car wash industry, with car wash cafes popping up left right and centre, it’s having the opposite impact on many car owners who are now struggling to keep their car in a reasonably clean state.

As a general rule, if you can’t wash your car yourself, the next best thing you can do is to use automatic car washes. They’re generally cheaper than car washes done by hand, and provide a reasonable level of performance. However, if your car is your pride and joy there may be no other option than to bite the bullet and pay up for a personal hand-washed car service, such as those offered by a car wash cafe.

The shopping centre car wash is another popular one with drivers, though it rates highest on cost. A single wash can be upwards of $50 at some shopping centres. Not cheap, but at least there is no down time since you can get your shopping done while your car is being cleaned.

If you simply cannot afford to pay for a car wash, then you have a couple of options. Firstly you could install a rain water tank and use that water to wash your car. Secondly you could try putting a bucket under the shower head while you shower to collect water that can be recycled and used to wash your car. And lastly, there are a few products now on the market which are spray-on liquids that allow you to clean your car without any water at all. They’re not designed for dirty cars, but they can be used on cars with a small amount of dirt, without scratching the surface of your car.
