Benchmark investment information - how performance is measured

To ensure comparability for consumers, the RateCity superannuation comparison is based on the asset allocation of each of the MySuper/Pension products, irrespective of the name of the investment option. This methodology allows consumers to compare products on a like for like basis and removes any ambiguities associated with the name of the investment option. For example, an investment option may be classified as growth, however its asset allocation may in fact mean it should be classified as high growth. By using the asset allocation as the dominant identifier, we believe this provides the most robust framework for consumers to compare funds and recognise that this is a consistent approach to that of SuperRatings methodology.

What the researchers say

AMP SignatureSuper was established in 2003 to cater for corporate superannuation plans wanting greater flexibility and tailored features. AMP SignatureSuper Allocated Pension was established in 2007. As one of the leading funds in responsible investment, MP SignatureSuper has received a 2017 Infinity Recognised status for the 8th consecutive year.

Members have access to an extensive investment menu featuring 80 Diversified, Single-Sector and Single Manager strategies, as well as Term Deposits. The Future Directions Balanced option has performed in-line with the SuperRatings Index over the long term.

Fees for this product are higher than the industry average across all account balances assessed. However, we note the Member fee and Asset Administration fee can be tailored to individual plans, hence, our ratings are indicative only.

This product offers an excellent level of pension flexibility. Members have the ability to receive their pension payments in a variety of frequencies ranging from fortnightly to annually. Members can also nominate a specific drawdown order for pension payments and elect any pension payment date.

AMP's website contains a variety of financial simulators and retirement calculators, as well as a Q&AMP info centre, which provides members with a wealth of educational materials, tools and online learning. Furthermore, the fund's interactive digital advice tool 'AMP Goals 360' helps members to plan and keep on track of their retirement goals.
