Benchmark investment information - how performance is measured

To ensure comparability for consumers, the RateCity superannuation comparison is based on the asset allocation of each of the MySuper/Pension products, irrespective of the name of the investment option. This methodology allows consumers to compare products on a like for like basis and removes any ambiguities associated with the name of the investment option. For example, an investment option may be classified as growth, however its asset allocation may in fact mean it should be classified as high growth. By using the asset allocation as the dominant identifier, we believe this provides the most robust framework for consumers to compare funds and recognise that this is a consistent approach to that of SuperRatings methodology.

Commonwealth Bank Group Super is the superannuation fund for current and former Commonwealth Bank Group employees and their spouses. This product opened in 2000, with a minimum initial investment of $20,000 required to commence membership.

Commonwealth Bank Group Super offers a range of 5 investment options to choose from, providing members with access to 4 Diversified options and a Cash option. The Balanced option has outperformed the SuperRatings Index over the past 5, 7 and 10 years, while historical returns across all other options have also been very strong.

Fees are highly competitive and lower than the industry average across all account balances assessed. Members are able to switch investment options and make withdrawals at no cost.

Commonwealth Bank Group Super - Retirement Access offers a reasonable level of flexibility with members having a choice of 5 payment frequencies and payment dates being set by the fund. Commonwealth Bank Group Super is one of the few funds to allow members to make a non-lapsing death benefit nomination, which can be taken as a lump sum or in an account-based pension form.

The Fund provides members with half yearly statements and periodic newsletters, as well as a range of online fact sheets, calculators and educational videos. Online access and transaction facilities are available through the member account tool FirstNet, while members' account balances are also visible within Commonwealth Bank's NetBank, Mobile App and MyWealth platforms.
