Annualised figures are the average per year returns of the rated option based on the cumulative returns for the past 5 years to 30/06/2015, past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Performance and fee data is based on the option which is rated by SuperRatings and stated on each product's landing page.

Benchmark investment information - how performance is measured

To ensure comparability for consumers, the RateCity superannuation comparison is based on the asset allocation of each of the MySuper/Pension products, irrespective of the name of the investment option. This methodology allows consumers to compare products on a like for like basis and removes any ambiguities associated with the name of the investment option. For example, an investment option may be classified as growth, however its asset allocation may in fact mean it should be classified as high growth. By using the asset allocation as the dominant identifier, we believe this provides the most robust framework for consumers to compare funds and recognise that this is a consistent approach to that of SuperRatings methodology.

What the researchers say

OneAnswer offers an extensive range of features and services including full adviser servicing, to help members meet their retirement goals. The fund is innovative and continues to introduce new features to benefit its members.

Requiring a minimum initial investment of $20,000, members have access to a comprehensive investment menu with Single Sector and Diversified Index funds, including the OptiMix option range. Rounding out the package is a wide selection of Term Deposits with varying maturities between 3 months to 5 years. Returns for the OnePath Managed Growth (NCF) option underperformed in 2015, and also position below the SuperRatings Index over the long term.

The fee is higher than the industry average across all account balances assessed, although deferred ongoing entry fee reduces after 4 years. The fixed dollar fee of $48 pa is waived for account balances exceeding $10,000 with further fee rebates applied on balances over $100,000.

Members can choose between 4 payment frequencies, while added flexibility is offered through pro-rata and member nominated specific drawdown orders. Estate planning options include reversionary pension and child death benefit pension, while the ability to transact online gives members the freedom to update details and pension arrangements with ease.
