Annualised figures are the average per year returns of the rated option based on the cumulative returns for the past 5 years to 30/06/2016, past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Performance and fee data is based on the option which is rated by SuperRatings and stated on each product's landing page.

Benchmark investment information - how performance is measured

To ensure comparability for consumers, the RateCity superannuation comparison is based on the asset allocation of each of the MySuper/Pension products, irrespective of the name of the investment option. This methodology allows consumers to compare products on a like for like basis and removes any ambiguities associated with the name of the investment option. For example, an investment option may be classified as growth, however its asset allocation may in fact mean it should be classified as high growth. By using the asset allocation as the dominant identifier, we believe this provides the most robust framework for consumers to compare funds and recognise that this is a consistent approach to that of SuperRatings methodology.

What the researchers say

OnePath OneAnswer is a comprehensive fee for service advice solution offered by OnePath, ANZ's brand for wealth, insurance and advice. OnePath OneAnswer Pension is closed to new members and is only available to existing investors as at 1 July 2013.

OnePath OneAnswer provides members with access to a comprehensive investment menu comprising OptiMix Manage the Managers funds and OnePath Diversified Multi-manager funds, as well as a range of Term Deposits. The OnePath Managed Growth (NCF) option has underperformed the SuperRatings Index over the short and long term.

Fees are higher than the industry average across all account balances assessed; however, the dollar based administration fee is waived on account balances in excess of $10K, while rebates may apply to account balances over $100K and an additional rebate is applied to all account balances after four years of each investment.

OnePath OneAnswer Pension offers good flexibility, with members having the ability to receive payments monthly through to annually and members able to choose from multiple payment dates. Members with more than one investment option can nominate the options from which payments are to be drawn. Members are furthermore able to invest in ANZ Prime CMA which provides at-call access to pension funds like a regular bank account. Beneficiary options include non-lapsing binding death benefit nomination and reversionary pensions.

A range of online resources and services are available through the fund's website, while 'InvestorBenefits' provide members with access to a range of discounts and special offers.
