Who knew heading to one of Australia’s pristine coastal holiday spots for your summer break could be so affordable?

Not only are Australian beaches beautiful and family friendly, they’re also come in cheaper than the national average for cost per person/night on a domestic holiday according to Roy Morgan Holiday Tracking Survey.

For less than $120 dollars per person/night, a family can get away to most of the nation’s glittering coastal holiday destinations. This price includes accommodation, food, travel and entertainment costs involved in going on holidays.

Here are the most affordable beach getaway locations in each state to give you some family holiday inspiration for this summer:

Fraser Island - Queensland

Topping the list for the most affordable getaway spot on the water is Queensland’s Fraser Island at a cool $94 per person/night. This one is for the adventurous family who want to drive their 4WD on the beach or give surfing a go on one of the islands surf beaches.

Yorke Peninsula – South Australia

A trip to SA’s Yorke Peninsula will set you back an average of $102 per person/night. Known as a family playground, this destination boasts fishing spots and historical attractions amongst the many activities available.

Geraldton – Western Australia

A visit to the coastal region of Geraldton, as well as nearby Kalbarri and Dongara, will set you back a mere $107 per person/night. This area of Western Australia’s coast line is a beautiful stretch of natural landscapes and animal habitats which is perfect for the outdoor loving family.

Bay of Fires – Tasmania

Located on the northeastern coast of Tasmania you can have a family getaway to the Bay of Fires region for $113 per person/night. This stunning spot is another natural oasis perfect for the active family as it is best discovered on foot.

Mornington Peninsula – Victoria

Visit the Mornington Peninsula region of Victoria for only $114 per person/night to discover the unique attractions of the state. Take a night walk to discover the nocturnal animals in the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation park for the kids and for the adults, enjoy the regions local wineries.

North Coast – New South Wales
