Annualised figures are the average per year returns of the rated option based on the cumulative returns for the past 5 years to 30/06/2015, past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Performance and fee data is based on the option which is rated by SuperRatings and stated on each product's landing page.

Benchmark investment information - how performance is measured

To ensure comparability for consumers, the RateCity superannuation comparison is based on the asset allocation of each of the MySuper/Pension products, irrespective of the name of the investment option. This methodology allows consumers to compare products on a like for like basis and removes any ambiguities associated with the name of the investment option. For example, an investment option may be classified as growth, however its asset allocation may in fact mean it should be classified as high growth. By using the asset allocation as the dominant identifier, we believe this provides the most robust framework for consumers to compare funds and recognise that this is a consistent approach to that of SuperRatings methodology.

What the researchers say

AMP SignatureSuper Select was launched in March 2014 as a corporate superannuation solution for small to medium-sized businesses. The Personal division is designed for former members of the corporate plan and their families.

Members have access to an extensive investment menu featuring 30 Diversified, Single-Sector and Single Manager investment options. Access to Term Deposits is also provided. The Future Directions Balanced option has performed in-line with the SuperRatings Index over the five years to 30 June 2015.

Fees for this product are rated as average across all account balances assessed. As a Large Plan Discount is available and calculated based on a member's account balance, these ratings are indicative only. No switching fees are charged, although changing investment options may incur transactional costs.

AMP SignatureSuper Select Personal allows members to continue their insurance cover after leaving their employer plan. Members can also apply for an unlimited amount of Death only cover, and up to $3 million of Death & TPD cover. Income Protection insurance is offered over a benefit period of 2 years or up to age 65, with a choice of 30, 60, 90 or 180 day waiting periods.

AMP's interactive website contains a variety of financial simulators and retirement calculators, and a 'News and Insights' Centre which is regularly updated. Members can also manage their superannuation on desktops, tablets and their mobile phones via MyPortfolio.
