Annualised figures are the average per year returns of the rated option based on the cumulative returns for the past 5 years to 30/06/2015, past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Performance and fee data is based on the option which is rated by SuperRatings and stated on each product's landing page.
Benchmark investment information - how performance is measured
To ensure comparability for consumers, the RateCity superannuation comparison is based on the asset allocation of each of the MySuper/Pension products, irrespective of the name of the investment option. This methodology allows consumers to compare products on a like for like basis and removes any ambiguities associated with the name of the investment option. For example, an investment option may be classified as growth, however its asset allocation may in fact mean it should be classified as high growth. By using the asset allocation as the dominant identifier, we believe this provides the most robust framework for consumers to compare funds and recognise that this is a consistent approach to that of SuperRatings methodology.

What the researchers say
ANZ Smart Choice is a low-cost product and the latest addition to ANZ's product suite, introduced to compete against other low cost Retail Master Trust and Industry products. A stand out feature is the ability to view and transact on your super account via ANZ online banking. The product retained SuperRatings' Fast Mover award for the second consecutive year for its exceptional positioning, promotion and distribution strategies and continues to provide good value to members, securing SuperRatings Gold rating for 2016.
ANZ Smart Choice is a MySuper solution; introduced 11 November 2013, the lifestage offering automatically adjusts to a more conservative investment mix as the member moves towards and into retirement. The ANZ Smart Choice MySuper 1960's option underperformed the SuperRatings Index in 2015.
The fee structure is highly competitive, with fees lower than the industry standard across all account balances assessed.
A full suite of insurance is available with Death, Total & Permanent Disablement (TPD) and Income Protection (IP) cover being offered. Upon joining, members automatically receive Death cover and can apply for additional voluntary cover. The fund also offers members the opportunity to increase their level of insured benefits at various life events.
A key feature of the product is the ability to track and manage your super account online via the ANZ 'Grow' app, alongside online banking, share investing and insurance. Financial planning services are also available, whilst all customer communications, including annual statements are delivered to the member's online account.
