Benchmark investment information - how performance is measured
To ensure comparability for consumers, the RateCity superannuation comparison is based on the asset allocation of each of the MySuper/Pension products, irrespective of the name of the investment option. This methodology allows consumers to compare products on a like for like basis and removes any ambiguities associated with the name of the investment option. For example, an investment option may be classified as growth, however its asset allocation may in fact mean it should be classified as high growth. By using the asset allocation as the dominant identifier, we believe this provides the most robust framework for consumers to compare funds and recognise that this is a consistent approach to that of SuperRatings methodology.

REST was established in 1988 to provide superannuation services to retail employees. The fund is open to employees across all industries and is one of the largest based on membership. Their MySuper product is a 2017 MySuper of the Year Finalist.
REST offers Core Strategy as a MySuper compliant option in both their REST Super and REST Corporate products. Choice members can also select from a suite of 13 investment options. The Core Strategy option has outperformed the SuperRatings Index over the short and long term.
The fund has a very low fee structure and is lower than the industry average across all account balances assessed. Fees are charged for withdrawals and buy/sell spreads are charged per transaction.
REST insurance provides a 'lifestage' design which automatically adjusts the level of cover at each stage of life. Additional Death, Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) and Income Protection (IP) insurance is also available. IP is available up to a maximum 77% of your pre-disability income plus a 12% super component. To keep up with the cost of living, the level of Death, TPD and IP Basic benefits are indexed on 1 January each year by 5%.
