Annualised figures are the average per year returns of the rated option based on the cumulative returns for the past 5 years to 30/06/2015, past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Performance and fee data is based on the option which is rated by SuperRatings and stated on each product's landing page.

Benchmark investment information - how performance is measured

To ensure comparability for consumers, the RateCity superannuation comparison is based on the asset allocation of each of the MySuper/Pension products, irrespective of the name of the investment option. This methodology allows consumers to compare products on a like for like basis and removes any ambiguities associated with the name of the investment option. For example, an investment option may be classified as growth, however its asset allocation may in fact mean it should be classified as high growth. By using the asset allocation as the dominant identifier, we believe this provides the most robust framework for consumers to compare funds and recognise that this is a consistent approach to that of SuperRatings methodology.

What the researchers say

The Vision Personal Plan was established in 2007 when the fund became public offer. The accumulation style plan provides excellent value across key areas and is open to everyone, regardless of their employment status. Vision Super has been issued an Infinity Recognised rating for seven years running for demonstrating excellent environmental and social principles.

The investment menu caters to a variety of investors, with nine options providing asset specific and Diversified sector strategies, across a Multi Manager approach. SuperRatings will continue to monitor the investment returns of the recently introduced Indexed Balanced option as they become available, while the Balanced Growth option continues to outperform the SuperRatings index over the long term.

Fees are well below the industry average across all account balances assessed. The fee structure incorporates an asset based administration fee and a fixed annual member fee, while no transaction charges apply. The administration fee is capped at $540 pa, providing additional benefit to members with balances exceeding $300,000.

Vision Personal Plan members can apply for optional insurance cover which is flexible and competitively priced. A choice between unitised and fixed cover allows members to tailor their cover to suit their needs. Income Protection (IP) provides the standard 85% (including SG) salary coverage with benefit payments of 2 years or to age 65 and a choice of 30 or 60 day (default) waiting period.
