Arc Energy Group is a managed network provider serving apartment buildings, aged care facilities, shopping centres, schools and commercial complexes in New South Wales. They set up and manage embedded networks in buildings with multiple dwellings that require servicing.
An embedded network is a new way of buying energy from a retailer. Traditionally, each home, office or shop selects an energy provider, a plan and enters into a contract. However, an embedded network is different. With an embedded network, power for a building is purchased in bulk from a provider like Arc Energy Group and then sold to the residents or businesses.
So ‘embedded network’ is another term for a small, private electricity network. These networks are suitable for apartment buildings, office blocks, aged care facilities, shopping centres, and schools, often referred to as multi-tenanted properties.
Arc Energy Australia can also provide renewable solutions such as solar PV, batteries and electric vehicle charging stations. In addition, Arc Energy is an approved retailer of the Clean Energy Council.
How does an Arc Energy embedded network work?
When using an embedded network, the building owner or manager purchases power from Arc Energy at a bulk discounted rate. A meter, called a parent meter, is installed between the incoming supply and the main switchboard, which measures the energy consumed in the building. Then there are meters at each individual home, office, or shop in the building to bill each individual owner or tenant for the energy they consume.
How do occupants benefit from Embedded Networks like Arc Energy?
Residential or commercial occupants of a building with an embedded network are likely to get energy at a discounted price. Companies that offer embedded networks such as Arc Energy will offer discounts on energy supply due to bulk purchasing. You will also find it convenient as you don’t need to shop around and compare multiple energy providers. Arc Energy knows the needs and functionality of your building and can offer great service and prices. Although you are part of the private network, your apartment or office will have its own meter. Which means you’ll only pay for the electricity that you consume.
So if you’re moving into an apartment or office that has an Arc Energy embedded network, you only need to call 1300 025 965 to activate your account.
If you’re moving out, fill out the moving out form on the Arc Energy website at least 3 business days before leaving the property.

Arc Energy Group’s services for property developers
Arc Energy enables property developers to manage energy on-selling, that is, bulk buying energy at discount rates from the provider and selling it to occupants at this discounted price. This embedded network can then become an ongoing revenue stream for building owners and managers. In addition, as the network is managed by experts, the property can be made more energy-efficient. This will ultimately improve its valuation and create a differentiation in the real estate market.
Electrical contractors can service a building with an embedded network more efficiently, as they have full control over the service connection.
Including additional renewable energy facilities such as solar PV, batteries and electric vehicle charging stations can make the property more marketable. These features can also help reduce the energy costs of the common areas and the property.
Arc Energy helps developers to manage electricity on-selling professionally by providing all the expertise related to meter readings, billing, and reconciliations.
Arc Energy rates
New South Wales has three electricity distributors, and Arc Energy works with Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy. Your electricity rates with Arc Energy will be determined by the distributor area your property is located. You can check if you’re covered by Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy by checking their website. Once you know which distributor you fall under, you can check your rates on the pricing fact sheets page of the Arc Energy website.
With Arc Energy, you can choose from an anytime plan or a time-of-use (TOU) one. The anytime plan charges a single rate irrespective of the time of day or day of the week you use the power. In a time-of-use plan, your charges are split between peak, off-peak and shoulder periods, and then you’ll pay a fixed daily supply charge. The highest rates are applied during peak periods, with off-peak often being the lowest rates. As a result, you’ll pay slightly higher than off-peak usage charges during ‘shoulder’ hours, which are not as busy as peak, but more than off-peak.
With Arc Energy, your contract continues until you specifically cancel it, so you don’t need to renew every 12 months. However, prices may vary over time, and Arc Energy will keep you informed when these changes occur.
You can also access additional discounts on top of the discounts you receive for being part of an embedded network by paying your bill on time. For example, arc Energy offers 22% off your bill if you pay the balance on or before the due date.
At this time, Arc Energy doesn’t offer any solar feed-in tariffs. Still, it does offer solar PV systems and installation services.
When it comes to connection and disconnection, it’s pretty simple. If you decide to cancel the contract, there are no exit fees, but there is a disconnection fee, which also applies if you are moving out. Additional charges will apply if:
- You want to get connected within the next business day
- You require reconnection after you were disconnected following non-payment.
- You pay your bill via credit card.
Arc Energy centralised hot water systems
Arc Energy Group works with developers and building owners to provide centralised hot water systems that provide hot water to occupants. By focusing on optimising operational costs, Arc Energy can provide energy-efficient hot water solutions to developers. The design, installation, maintenance, and customer service of the hot water system is managed by Arc Energy experts. In addition, the use of condensing boilers and multi-stage burning makes these systems more efficient.
If your building has a centralised hot water system, your apartment or office will have a hot water meter, and you’ll pay only for the amount of hot water you consume.
Centralised hot water systems can be installed in a new development or retrofitted to an existing building.
Switching to another energy retailer
If your home or office is part of an Arc Energy embedded network and you wish to switch to another provider, you are free to do this. You can compare your energy options and select one that works for you. Once you’ve identified the supplier and plan you want, you need to inform your new supplier that your meter is part of an embedded network. Your new supplier will then get in touch with Arc Energy to access and organise your connection.
