An Australian-owned electricity retailer, Blue NRG services small and medium-sized businesses located in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and South-East Queensland. Its focus on businesses is born out of its belief that most large electricity providers work mainly for residential consumers and don’t have specialised services for commercial customers who have higher consumption.

Offering a range of customer-friendly services, Blue NRG aims to help customers reduce their energy usage and costs. Blue NRG has now partnered with Empower, an energy solutions company that guides all aspects of energy consumption.

Blue NRG says the partnership with this independent energy consultant will help businesses to optimise their energy consumption and reduce electricity bills. If you are a customer with an annual consumption of more than 20 MWh, you can use the Energy Health Check conducted by Empower.

Blue NRG electricity billing and payment

Blue NRG says it’s committed to prompt customer service and promise that a representative will pick up your call in less than 30 seconds when you call. It doesn’t outsource customer service to offshore call centres. This is one way Blue NRG aims to contribute to the Australian economy by keeping jobs local.

Conscious of the impact of energy generation on the planet, Blue NRG aims to help you reduce your power consumption. It will give you a range of suggestions to reduce your electricity bills, from power factor correction to network tariff optimisation.

If you have a smart meter, Blue NRG receives readings from the meter in real-time and generates your monthly electricity bill based on this data. If you have a basic meter, your invoice may be based on estimated or actual meter readings.

The meter may be read-only once a month or quarter, but you will receive an invoice each month. You may also receive invoices based on estimated reading if your meter cannot be easily accessed. So, if your meter is located indoors or behind a locked gate, the company may take an estimate.

Customers can pay Blue NRG bills via cheque, direct debit or credit cards. While credit card payments usually involve a fee of around 1.39%, you can set up a direct debit payment with your credit card. Blue NRG promises the following:

  • “Simple monthly e-billing
  • No lock-in period
  • Easy monitoring of electricity use
  • 24/7 access to your Blue NRG account online
  • Energy health check-ups
  • Notification alerts if energy consumption exceeds the prescribed limit
  • The ability to manage multiple addresses in a single bill.”

Blue NRG and carbonTRACK strategic partnership

carbonTRACK handles smart grids and virtual power plants in various locations spread over New Zealand, Africa, the UK, and the US. Customers can use the tool to keep their energy consumption under control and reduce electricity bills.

Blue NRG rates

Blue NRG offers small and medium-sized businesses a variety of pricing plans. You do not get any discounts on the tariff but can benefit from their innovative products that keep your energy bills down.

The Blue NRG pricing plan will factor in the length of your commitment to the company. You can benefit from an enrollment bonus and cashback. As a Blue NRG customer, you can choose between a fixed-price plan or a fixed-term plan. If you want to switch plans, reach out to a Blue NRG contact at [email protected] or call 1300 599 888. The switching process may take a couple of billing cycles.

Consumers of Blue NRG do not pay for enrollment, set-up costs, or switching fees. Blue NRG customers who are moving premises will need to contact the office to tell them your new address.  You need to give four business days’ notice before you move.

Reading Blue NRG reviews and speaking to businesses that have used the company’s services may help you decide. Before you switch to a new energy provider, don’t forget to compare prices and offers.
