Absolute return funds strive to deliver positive returns to investors in both rising and falling markets. In order to do this, these funds invest in a wide range of assets outside of just stocks and bonds. Absolute return funds’ performance generally is not tied to a benchmark like other traditional funds, including Australian long only funds. The underlying investments in these funds may include mortgages, swaps, metals, bonds, stocks, futures, ETF’s, real estate and other financial instruments.
