It is generally suited to members who are moving up, looking to retire or in retirement.

Bendigo SmartOptions Pension is a sub-plan of The Bendigo Superannuation Plan which was established in 1988. The Bendigo SmartOptions product range includes a superannuation and pension product designed to provide members with flexibility to actively manage their super investment. The pension product required an initial investment of $30,000 to commence membership, however is now closed to new members.Bendigo SmartOptions offers an investment menu of 11 diversified options, a cash option, an income option, a range of managed funds including annuity funds, as well as a Direct Investment Option which provides access to Direct Equities on the S&P/ASX 200 and term deposits. The Balanced Index option underperformed the relevant SuperRatings Index over the 3 years to 30 June 2019.Fees are lower than the industry average across all account balances assessed, although a minimum $480 administration fee applies. There are no investment switching fees, although a buy-sell spread may apply.Bendigo SmartOptions Pension offers reasonable pension flexibility, with members able to select from monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly payment frequencies. Members can also select from reversionary pensions or binding lump sum death benefits.The fund offers members access to financial planning services, comprehensive online educational materials and the ability to view account details and perform transactions through the fund's website.
