Originally established to cater for people working in the medical profession, MAP Super is now a public offer superannuation fund servicing a variety of employees. The fund joined the OneVue group in February 2014. A minimum initial investment of $20,000 is required to commence a MAP Pension, and a Transition to Retirement Pension is also available.MAP Super offers a simple investment menu, consisting of 4 Diversified and 3 Single-Sector investment options. The Growth option underperformed the SuperRatings Index over the 10 years assessed to 30 June 2019. Fees for this product are lower than the industry average across all account balances assessed. The percentage-based administration fee is subject to a minimum of $150 pa; however, reduces as the account size grows and is capped on balances over $1.5 million. Additionally, partners discount allows members to link their accounts with their partner’s and have the administration fee calculated on the combined balance. A switching fee of 0.40% per switch applies after the first four switches per annum.A reasonable level of pension flexibility is provided, including a choice of 4 pension payment frequencies ranging from monthly to annually. Members with more than one investment option are eligible to nominate a fixed proportion of payments to be drawn from each option. Beneficiary options are comprehensive, including both binding and non-binding nominations, as well as reversionary pensions.Members have access to intra fund financial advice through a specialist financial planning company, MGD Wealth, appointed by the fund. Online account access allows members to manage their account and perform transactions such as switching investment options.
