Summary

Established in 1987 for Tasmanian corporate employees, Tasplan Super has been a public offer industry fund since 2007. With the aim to create a single Tasmanian superannuation fund, Tasplan merged with Quadrant Super in November 2015 and the RBF Accumulation Scheme in April 2017. Tasplan Pension was introduced in 2007 and was nominated as a finalist of the 2020 Pension of the Year Award. Tasplan Managed Pension was launched in July 2019 and a minimum initial investment of $20,000 is required to commence membership. Members' income and investment options are determined based on their age and account balance upon opening accounts.Tasplan Managed Pension offers an investment strategy that combines Cash and Long-term options with quarterly rebalancing. SuperRatings will continue to monitor the investment performance of the recently introduced Long-term option.Fees are lower than the industry average across all assessed account balances, with the percentage-based administration fee capped at $1,200 p.a. Members are able to switch investment options at no cost. A limited level of pension flexibility is provided, with members only having the ability to receive payments fortnightly. The regular pension payments are made from Cash which is designed to provide members with investment stability to cover pension fees and costs, as well as their income needs for the first two years. Beneficiary options are comprehensive, including both binding and non-binding nominations, as well as reversionary pensions.Additional benefits available include access to advice services, information sessions, high quality educational material, interactive tools and calculators, as well as the ability to view account details and perform transactions via Tasplan Online.
