Get cash back with the top credit card reward cards

The best things in life are free but don’t be fooled, credit card rewards come at a cost. If you understand the credit card costs that allow you to earn reward points you could save valuable money with cash backs, deals or valuable travel points.

Reward credit cards have good incentives for using your card to make transactions instead of using cash or your debit card. Some rewards programs offer up to three points per dollar spent or bonus points for shopping at certain stores or spending a certain amount of money. Reward credit cards generally include much higher interest rates than basic cards so to get the most out of them you should only use them if you pay off your debt each month. Otherwise the cost of the interest will outweigh the rewards offers.

Australia’s premier financial data provider CANSTAR has compared 128 rewards programs across 106 credit cards to determine which credit card’s cash back reward programs represent outstanding value for consumers. (Only points-based rewards were included in the star ratings research). The research, which is based on CANSTAR’s report released in September 2013, divides consumers into three spend categories of $12,000, $24,000 and $60,000 spent on credit cards annually.
