Victorian-based energy provider Elysian Energy is known for its easy billing process and simple plans. Learn more about this provider to find out if it’s the right one for you.
A relatively new energy retailer on the Australian market, Elysian Energy offers simple plans with fixed monthly prices, enabling families to manage and budget for their energy bill efficiently. Founded by Scott Wells, this energy provider was initially exclusive to Victorian customers, but has recently expanded into New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.
How does Elysian Energy work?
As a 100% Australian-owned company, Elysian Energy says it aims to provide power to thousands of Aussies at affordable prices. To achieve this, its energy plans are slightly different from other players in the market. As an Elysian Energy customer, the amount you need to pay every month is determined based on your household size and average electricity usage.
To ensure its customers are always on the most appropriate plan, Elysian Energy will change your plan if you’re not using as much as it anticipated. This will ensure that you don’t have to pay for more than required or use less than what you need.
What you should know about Elysian Energy’s plans
Your plan as an Elysian Energy customer is decided based on the size of your home and how much energy you need. You can choose from four plans offered by this energy provider: The Minimalist, A New Chapter, The Good Life and The Full House.
The specifications and amount you need to pay for each plan differs based on your geographical location and tariff type. However, we’ve drawn a comparison and estimate for each plan based on residential customers in SURFERS PARADISE 4217 (Energex) for your reference.
The Minimalist
Specially tailored for individuals, couples, or households that don’t require much energy, The Minimalist offers 200kWh of electricity in a month for $95.
A New Chapter
A New Chapter provides double energy compared to The Minimalist, i.e. 400kWh for $140/month. This plan caters for households with two to three members.
The Good Life
If you’re a family of four or five members, Elysian Energy recommends choosing The Good Life plan, under which you can avail 800kWh of energy to use a month, priced from $230 a month.
The Full House
You should consider choosing Elysian Energy’s The Full House plan if you share a house with five or more people. With this plan, you get 1,200kWh of power to meet your needs, with a starting price of $280 a month. As the cost of this plan is on the higher end of the scale, it’s only recommended for those with large households.
While Elysian Energy provides plans based on an average family’s usage, you might find that you need more energy. While you won’t be cut off after you reach your limit, you will be charged separately for the excess power used. If, on the other hand, you’re at the other side of the spectrum and don’t use all the energy allocated to you in the month, the excess will be credited back to you or taken off the next month’s bill at the same rate.

What are the benefits of choosing Elysian Energy as your energy provider?
Since its launch, Elysian Energy has scored many points from Aussies, primarily due to its unique plans.
Elysian’s no lock-in contracts and monthly payment cycles make it a bit different to some of its competitors.
Another feature that Elysian Energy provides that is really popular among users is that you pay only for what you use. If your usage falls below the quota in your monthly plan, the difference will either be subtracted from next month’s bill or be reimbursed.
Finally, there are some perks and add-ons depending on your needs. For example, if you have a solar system, Elysian Energy will provide an additional pack, allowing for an extra 300 KWh of net generated energy. Also, households that have a dedicated supply of electric hot water will receive an additional 150 kWh of energy.
Should you switch to Elysian Energy?
That depends on your needs. However, if you’re looking for an energy provider that offers simple plans monthly, without the need for any long-term commitment, Elysian Energy could be worth investigating further. It's important to remember that you’ll need to regularly compare plans to make sure you’re still getting the best deal available on the market.
