How to get your natural gas connected with Tas Gas

To organise your new natural gas connection with Tas Gas Retail you can apply online via the Tas Gas website. You need to first check if your home is within the network using the pipeline locator for Tasmania or Victoria. Once you confirm availability, you can complete the online application form or post a filled out paper form to Tas Gas Retail.

After receiving your application, Tas Gas Networks arranges for a site inspection. The meter location will be discussed during this inspection. The company will send a written confirmation of the date your connection will be complete. The gas meter is then installed by the construction team, after which a licensed gas fitter will install and connect your various appliances.

What happens with getting a meter installed?

After receiving your application, it will take approximately four to six weeks to install your meter. This time frame can vary based on your individual situations. Tas Gas gives you 60 days free from the date of your meter installation for you to connect your appliances. At the end of this time, they’ll charge you at the applicable rates. The installation charges for standard connections are $300, and non-standard connections may incur extra costs, but you’ll be told of these additional charges before any work begins.
