Australia’s leading financial comparison site RateCity.com.au is pleased to announce the appointment of digital powerhouse Paul Marshall as chief executive officer.

Marshall, an expert on digital and multichannel marketing, will join the RateCity team on December 8, 2014.

Andrew Willink, founder and chairman of RateCity, said Marshall brings a wealth of digital industry knowledge and a proven track record of successfully growing innovative businesses in the digital media, publishing and ecommerce space.

“RateCity is a high growth, dynamic business and we believe Paul is the leader who can take this growth to the next level,” he said.

Marshall joins RateCity after several years consulting senior executives on business strategy development, ecommerce, and digital marketing, drawing on his more than 15 years’ experience in leading and growing online businesses.

In 2002, at the helm of publicly listed online and mobile publisher HWW, he grew the business towards a profitable acquisition by ninemsn.

Following HWW, Marshall joined Salmat Limited and founded its digital division. Here he started Lasoo.com.au, an aggregated shopping portal, and over five years took it from concept to Australia’s leading and most engaged pre-shopping site. While leading the Lasoo business, Paul also pioneered Salmat’s eCommerce business and a range of retail digital services such as catalogue viewers, smartphone applications, an aggregated group-buying site and social media integration services.

“The financial comparison space in Australia has huge potential, and RateCity has already proven results in this market. I’m thrilled to be a part of this next chapter for RateCity as I believe the next few years will see the business go from strength to strength with exponential growth expected for the company,” Marshall said.
