How to use & redeem Velocity Frequent Flyer points | RateCity

Velocity Frequent Flyer is Virgin Australia's official loyalty program with over 10 million members across the country. As a Velocity member, you can earn points when booking flights with Virgin Australia and its partner airlines. You can also earn Velocity points by using a Velocity rewards credit card as well as other ways.

Once you've accumulated enough points, you can then redeem your Velocity points for flights, upgrades or even products or services from the Velocity Rewards Store. You will also accumulate Status Credits when accumulating points which will unlock more benefits.

To sign up for the Velocity program, just apply online and you’ll receive a card in the mail. You’ll be given a Velocity member number which will allow you to begin earning points straight away. Plus, there's no joining fee for becoming a member of the Velocity Frequent Flyer program.

How do I redeem my Velocity points?

One of the best ways to get the maximum value out of your Velocity points is redeeming them for select flights on Virgin Australia and its partner airlines. It's also possible to use your points to upgrade to business class on Virgin Australia domestic flights.

As well as select flights you can redeem your Velocity points for car hire in certain locations by booking through cartrawler.virginaustralia.com.  Your Velocity points can also be used for your next staycation. You can choose from over 550,000 standard and luxury properties worldwide and also earn points while you relax and enjoy your stay.

If you're not planning to travel any time soon, there is the option to redeem your Velocity points by shopping online at the Velocity Rewards Store. You'll be spoilt for choice with products and gift cards from popular brands like Dyson, Bose, Apple, Samsonite, Swarovski, and many more. If retail therapy doesn't excite you, you may enjoy spending your Velocity points at the Velocity Wine store. It brings you a wide variety of premium liquor you won't find at your local bottle-o.

Do I have to pay any fees for joining the Velocity Frequent Flyer program?

No, you don't have to pay anything to join the Velocity Frequent Flyer program. However, if you choose to increase your points balance by using a credit card linked to your Velocity account, you'll most likely be charged an annual fee.

You should keep in mind that most reward credit cards have some of the highest fees out there. So it's essential to compare your options and choose a card with benefits that cover the cost of your annual fee.
